When I talk to my fellow Cougar fans, I am always surprised by how many people don't know about Coach Mendenhall's weekly call-in show on KSL.
Every Wednesday night our favorite "Voice of the Cougars" Greg Wrubell sits down with the coach at a local Ken Garff dealership and they shoot the breeze. Coach takes questions from Greg and Marc Lyons, and he also takes questions from us fans via the phone, texts and emails. It airs from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesdays, and it's worth your time; Bronco has a good deal of respect for Greg and Marc, and he seems more relaxed and more open with them than he usually is.
I realize I probably should have posted this earlier today, seeings how the show just ended a few minutes ago, but consider yourselves prepared for next week.
Now I know what you're all wondering: "Adam- did you make it through tonight?" Yes, I actually did. I texted this question: "Bronco- can you give us an update on Terrance Hooks? Will he play this year?"
To which Bronco replied, and I quote, "Good question."
He said he expects Hooks to sit out until game 7 at the earliest. He also said he wouldn't push Hooks, and would only use him early if the team absolutely needed it.
Another friend of mine and ASB reader, Mark of El Vacano Dominico, emailed a good question about defense. He asked about a possible change in defensive scheme since we seem to be getting thinner every day at linebacker. He suggested that maybe G Pittman or Brandon Bradley come in to play as a nickel back, or that we switch to a 4-3 scheme. Bronco said a 4-3 is not probable, but that a fifth d-back could be a possible option down the road.
By the way, I assumed it was you Mark, since the email said "Mark from Quincy Washington." Having been there, I'm pretty sure there's only one Mark in Quincy Washington that would bleed blue enough to listen to the call-in show.
Anyway, check this bad boy out next week. Oh yeah- I forgot to mention Iceburg Drive-In provides free food for those that are in the audience. Just be sure to double-check the location if you want to see it live. Don't pull an Adam and get caught driving around Orem when the show is in American Fork.
