I would consider myself a poor BYU fan if I didn't mention another gigantic recruiting success for the BYU basketball program and Coach Dave Rose.
Provo's Brandon Davies, a 6'9" power forward/center who was recruited heavily by teams all over the country committed to BYU and Rose on Sunday morning. Davies is a 4-star basketball recruit, and was considered to be one of the state's top prospects along with Lone Peak's Tyler Haws (who committed to BYU last month).
In other words, Davies' commitment means BYU landed without a doubt the best two players in the state.
Davies was heavily considering Utah State, Cal, Gonzaga and BYU. He chopped Gonzaga off the list a while ago, and soon it became a two-school race between BYU and Cal. BYU won out, however, and Davies will sign on as part of the best recruiting classes in BYU basketball history.
BYU basketball is a force, and is here to stay. Congratulations to Coach Rose for securing another very good recruit from an in-state kid, and kudos to Brandon Davies for making a very solid decision to don Cougar Blue.
