The first golf post of the season

Is there anything more peaceful than a Sunday afternoon? The couch is at its most comfortable, the smells from the kitchen are sweet, and the soft sounds of golf are wafting through the house.

It was in this idyllic setting that I watched my first golf tournament of the year: the CA Championship. Phil Mickelson outlasted Trevor Watney for his second win in 2009, and the field included Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and the other greats on tour today.

I'm a Mickelson fan, so Lefty's win brought a smile to my face. He was nails on the back nine, and I must say he is finally starting to firm up, if you know what I mean. I didn't see any sagging or swinging when he walked up the fairway. Either that or he found some dependable support undergarments. Whatever the case, good for him.

Anyway, watching that tournament was all I needed to get pumped about playing some golf this season. Maybe it's a case of the spring fever, but the sun is out, the temps are getting warmer and I feel the need to swing some clubs.

Ooh, that reminds me. I'm going to need a new driver this year. It's a shame, too, because I loved my old driver. But I hit a bad shot, and the club needed to be punished...

So I guess I'll see you on the course. In the meantime, enjoy this video from Jim Rome extolling the jacka$$es that yell "Get in the hole!" after every shot. I sure found it entertaining.
