TCU joining the Big 12 in my opinion does not hurt BYU at all because they are still in a high revenue market in the Pac-12. The real interesting question will be who will the Big 12 pick up when Mizzouri leaves.

Here's your middle ground:

Jake Heaps starts, does fairly well (let's say 14/24 for 190 yards 1 TD) and BYU wins 24-7. We all agree that Riley would have done no better, and order is once again restored to the Cougar universe.

Then Jake gets taken to the woodshed by a (by all appearances) terrible Oregon State team. Riley is given the 4th quarter again, and fails to rally the team and we lose 17-7 due to poor field position in the second half.

What can you say then? We are essentially right back where we were in the 3rd quarter of USU, and Jake is on pretty shaky ground.

On the other hand, maybe Jake sits out a few games (maybe even the rest of the year) and gets so motivated that he hits the weight room and film room like nobody else on the team. His enthusiasm and preparation impresses Riley Nelson who (fresh off an Armed Forces Bowl victory) has just been accepted to medical school. Riley hands the reins over to Jake Heaps who is more prepared than ever to actually lead the team and win some football games.

I don't have a crystal ball either, but I think if Heaps is going to start again, he needs to earn it. So far, Riley has earned it, and not just because of his amazing comeback victory on Saturday.

OSU & WSU and every school in every major conference teach that the Earth is much older than the 7,000 years you get taught/preached, perhaps that coupled with your fairy tales of Native Americans having Jewish blood lines could possibly have something to do with too. It's a fact that your glorified mating academy will never be invited to sit at the table with the adults becuse for those Universities academia comes before OTA and fairy tales are not taught as fact, maybe bubble you all live in down there is starting to run out of Oxygen….

Sorry Adam, but this post just depresses me...reminds me that we'll likely be left out of super conferences and if that does happen, the thought of who our "rivals" would be is more than depressing.

I just keep wondering why does the media not question why BYU wasn't taken to the pac 12? Does everyone just know and choose to ignore? Or do they really believe the lame research school reasons...as if OSU, WSU, and most of the other schools are academically superior.

I've resisted and held myself back from posting on your blog for months now. I finally had a chance to read your latest pregame prediction and can’t help myself. You are really off the mark on a few points but heck I’m no oracle of college sports either. I’m no prophet but I look into the future it seems to me, that as your cherished football program drives further down the road of irrelevancy with every indy contract ESPN game that is televised, that we may actually be watching the rebirth of the finest Mating Academy in all of Utah County. You know a return to the good ol’ days of pushing out the best nannies and grade school teachers in a twenty mile radius. Heck the future of your blog may be play by play recaps of your weekend firesides, so you have that to look forward to, which is nice
